A young man of the Khazraj had shown interest in the Prophet ﷺ's message during his early dawah in Makkah, prompting this chieftain to warn him away.

During the early days of dawah, the Prophet ﷺ approached a young man of the Khazraj who came close to converting, but was dissuaded by his chieftain, who told him to mind his own business. The young man was later killed in the Battle of Bu'ath, reportedly reciting the tasbih, tahmid, and takbir as he died.
Taken together with the story of Suwayd ibn al-Samit, this is further evidence that the message of Islam had reached Yathrib before the Khazraj's formal conversion at Aqaba.
