This unnamed young man of the Khazraj was approached by the Prophet ﷺ in the early days of his call to Islam, before the Muslims had any foothold in Yathrib. He came close to accepting, but his chieftain dissuaded him, telling him to mind his own business and not to worry about the Prophet ﷺ. He was killed a few years later in the Battle of Bu'ath between the Aws and the Khazraj. It is reported that as he was dying he began glorifying, praising and magnifying Allah. His story is one sign that the message of Islam had already reached Yathrib before the pledges of Aqaba.
