Khosrow ordered his governor Badhan to send spies to Madinah to gather information on the Prophet ﷺ, and to bring him back if possible. Badhan sent two emissaries, Babawayh and Khur Khasra, with a letter as a pretext. The Prophet ﷺ made them wait a day, then told them to report to Badhan that Allah had killed his lord Khosrow and that Khosrow's son had taken over, without even opening their letter. By the time the two returned, they found that Khosrow had indeed fled Ctesiphon and been killed in a coup led by his son, Kavad II, around 28 Feb 628 CE (Jumada al-Awwal 7 AH). Badhan and his two emissaries subsequently embraced Islam, and the Prophet ﷺ later wrote to them about the rules of jizya.
Confirmed the Prophet ﷺ's prophecy about Khosrow with striking precision, and led to Badhan's conversion.
