Khosrow (Kisra)

Khosrow II Parvez, called Kisra by the Arabs, was emperor of Sassanid Persia from 590 to 628 CE and the last of its great kings, remembered as cruel and self-indulgent. His long war against the Romans took Syria, Jerusalem and parts of Egypt, until Heraclius reversed it, as Surah al-Rum had foretold. When the Prophet ﷺ's letter reached him through Abdullah ibn Hudhafah al-Sahmi RA, he tore it up, and the Prophet ﷺ prayed that his kingdom be torn to pieces. He then sent envoys through his governor Badhan, whom the Prophet ﷺ told that Khosrow had been killed; his son Kavad II had overthrown and killed him around Jumada al-Ula 7 AH. Within a decade the Sassanid Empire was gone and its treasures shared among the Muslims.
