Babawayh was one of the two trusted emissaries whom Badhan, the Persian governor toward Yemen, sent to Madinah on Khosrow's orders, carrying a letter as a ruse while their real mission was to gather information on the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ recognized them as spies and told them that his Lord had killed their lord Khosrow; when they found it true, they accepted Islam, as did Badhan.
