The Prophet ﷺ saw in a dream an angel carrying a lady covered up to him, told that she would be his wife; when he uncovered her face it was Aisha bint Abi Bakr RA. He said that if the dream was from Allah it would come to pass, and it did. The nikah was conducted in Makkah, but the marriage was not consummated until later in Madinah, in the 2nd year of the Hijrah.
Aisha RA became the Prophet ﷺ's third wife and, in the Madinan era, his favorite.
