The first military expedition of the Muslims. Hearing of a Qurayshi caravan, the Prophet ﷺ led the Muslims out to intercept it, but they could not reach it in time and no battle took place. During this expedition the Prophet ﷺ formed the first of many tribal alliances, with the Banu Damra, extending the reach of the young Islamic state roughly another 100 miles outside Madinah.
Outcome: No battle occurred; an alliance was formed with Banu Damra.
The first expansion of the Islamic state's political influence beyond Madinah itself, through alliance rather than conquest.
