~c. 3 AH, shortly after Uhud
Shortly after the Battle of Uhud, a drunk sahabi led the prayer and made serious mistakes while reciting. Allah then revealed Surah al-Nisa, verse 43, prohibiting believers from approaching the salah while drunk.
The second phase of the gradual prohibition of alcohol: drinking was now prohibited throughout the day, remaining permitted only between Isha and pre-Fajr.
