Rumors began to spread and some in Madinah murmured that Usama ibn Zayd RA should not lead them: that he was not of Quraysh, that his father had been a mawla, and that he was simply too young. None of the senior sahaba voiced this themselves, but the talk spread through the city.
If you dislike his leadership, then remember that you also criticized the leadership of his father before him. By Allah, he is worthy of being a leader. And this man, Usama, is the most beloved of people to me after his father.
