A small village and the surrounding land between Amman and al-Karak in Jordan, then part of the Roman province.
Site of the Battle of Mu'tah in Jumada al-Awwal, 8 AH. Modern Arabs call it "al-Mazar" (mausoleum), since the three sahaba who died as its commanders are buried there.
