أبو حذيفة بن عتبة
Abu Hudhayfah ibn Utbah RA was a Companion of the Banu Abd Shams, son of Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, brother of Hind the wife of Abu Sufyan, and former master of the great reciter Salim Mawla Abi Hudhayfah RA. At Badr in 2 AH, his father, uncle and brother were killed in the duels, and in a moment of tribal grief he objected to the Prophet ﷺ's order to spare the Banu Hashim, words he regretted all his life. When his father's body was thrown into the well, he grieved that his father had died upon disbelief, and the Prophet ﷺ made du'a for him. He prayed for martyrdom and was killed at al-Yamamah in 12 AH.
