...And [We] have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them [all] up, so they fail to see.
Recited from Surah Ya-Sin while walking past the men sent to kill him, who were unable to see him.
Monday night, 26 Safar, 13th year of the dawah / 1st year of the Hijrah · 1 BH
Details differ across the sources
Ibn Ishaq relates Ali RA sleeping in the Prophet ﷺ's bed, the recitation of Surah Ya-Sin and the dust thrown on the besiegers through Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, a Successor who did not witness them, so the report is mursal. The hadith of his words to Makkah at al-Hazwarah does not state when they were said, and the long supplication attributed to Ibn Kathir was not verified.
As the tribesmen sent to kill him surrounded the house, the Prophet ﷺ left Ali RA behind in his own bed as a decoy and walked out reciting from Surah Ya-Sin, throwing dust on the assassins, who were unable to see him. A hadith in al-Tirmidhi records him standing at al-Hazwarah in Makkah and addressing the city he would not enter again for years, though it does not say that this was on the night he left. Ibn Kathir additionally reports that the Prophet ﷺ made a long supplication asking Allah for protection, ease, and mercy on the journey, a detail not found in earlier sources.

...And [We] have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them [all] up, so they fail to see.
Recited from Surah Ya-Sin while walking past the men sent to kill him, who were unable to see him.
By Allah, you are the best of Allah's earth and the most beloved of Allah's earth to Allah. Had I not been driven out from you, I would not have left.
Said standing at al-Hazwarah in Makkah, echoing the words Waraqa ibn Nawfal had once spoken to him, that his people would drive him out.
“...And [We] have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them [all] up, so they fail to see”
Recited by the Prophet ﷺ as he departed his besieged house; the lecture cites this as Qur'an 36:8-9 (a combined two-ayah quotation), stored here under ayah 8.
“[It does not matter] if you [Believers] do not support him (the Prophet ﷺ), for Allah did in fact support him when the disbelievers drove him out [of Makkah], and he was only one of two. While they both were in the cave, he reassured his companion, "Do not worry; Allah is certainly with us." So Allah sent down His serenity upon the Prophet, supported him with forces you did not see, and made the word of the disbelievers lowest, while the Word of Allah supreme. And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.”
This ayah recalls Abu Bakr RA and the Prophet ﷺ's reassurance in the Cave of Thawr during the Hijrah -- the journey that began on this very night, when Ali RA stayed behind as a decoy.
