Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib was the father of the Prophet ﷺ, a younger son of Abd al-Muttalib and full brother of Abu Talib; very little is known of his life. When the lot of his father's vow to sacrifice a son fell on him, he was ransomed with a hundred camels, and he then married Aminah bint Wahb of the Banu Zuhrah. Days after the wedding he left with a caravan to Syria, fell ill on the way back and died in Yathrib, and no one knows where he was buried. The Prophet ﷺ was born a few months later, never having known his father.
