A sariyya (raiding expedition) of 30 Sahaba led by Muhammad ibn Maslamah RA against the tribe of Banu Bakr ibn Kilab at al-Qurta', most likely in the month of Shawwal, 6 AH. The expedition succeeded. On the return journey, the Sahaba encountered a small, unguarded convoy and, sensing something amiss, brought its members to the Prophet ﷺ as prisoners without realizing whom they had captured; it turned out to be Thumamah ibn Uthal, chieftain of the Banu Hanifa, whose subsequent captivity and conversion became its own well-known story.
Outcome: Success, the expedition achieved its objective against Banu Bakr ibn Kilab, and its returning party incidentally captured Thumamah ibn Uthal.
This otherwise minor expedition is chiefly remembered as the occasion on which Thumamah ibn Uthal was unexpectedly captured on his way back to Madinah, setting in motion his three days in the Masjid of the Prophet ﷺ and eventual conversion to Islam.
