Muhammad ibn Maslamah RA was a senior Companion of the Aws whom the Prophet ﷺ trusted with delicate missions. He volunteered to deal with Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf in 3 AH, since an Aws man could do it without reviving old feuds, and led the small party that killed him. In 4 AH he delivered the Prophet ﷺ's ultimatum to Banu al-Nadir, his former friends, telling them Islam had changed every loyalty. He commanded the guard at the siege of Banu Qurayza, led a raid in 6 AH that captured Thumamah ibn Uthal, and was left in charge of Madinah during the Expedition of Tabuk.
