Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, unwilling to confront his own cousin As'ad ibn Zurarah (who was hosting Mus'ab ibn Umayr RA), sent his close friend Usayd ibn Hudayr to expel Mus'ab from Yathrib. Usayd went armed with a spear, but agreed to sit and listen to Mus'ab's preaching, and converted to Islam on the spot. Usayd then sent Sa'd to Mus'ab; Sa'd, alarmed by a report that his own cousin As'ad was in danger, likewise went to confront Mus'ab, but agreed to listen, and upon hearing Mus'ab recite Surah al-Zukhruf, converted as well. With their conversion, nearly the whole of their subtribe, Banu Abd al-Ashhal, embraced Islam.
Outcome: Banu Abd al-Ashhal converted almost in its entirety, except for Usayrim.
The largest mass conversion in Yathrib up to that point, and a turning point that opened Islam to the wider Aws and Khazraj.

Why have you come to our land? To brainwash those of us who don't have strong intellect? To take our women and children away from our ways, to convert them to the ways of this new prophet of yours? Go back to where you came from if you value your life!

O As'ad, had you not been my cousin, these weapons would not be hanging at my side. It is because of our blood relationship that I am not taking this further. Get rid of this guest of yours, and tell him to leave our land and stop spreading his pollution.
Said after Usayd ibn Hudayr warned him that As'ad's tribe had threatened to kill him for hosting Mus'ab.

This new religion has come to our city, and my cousin As'ad is housing the man who is spreading it. Because he is my cousin, I feel awkward going myself, so why don't you go and expel this man from our city?
