Fled Makkah at the Conquest fearing the Prophet ﷺ would not forgive his role in the plot to assassinate him; his cousin Umayr ibn Wahab secured him the Prophet ﷺ's aman (protection) and brought him back to pronounce the shahada.
Safwan ibn Umayyah RA was the son of Umayyah ibn Khalaf and one of the richest men of Makkah. After his father was killed at Badr, he sent his cousin Umayr ibn Wahb to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ, helped raise the army for Uhud, bought Zayd ibn al-Dathinah RA to execute him, and armed Banu Bakr for the raid that broke the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. At the Conquest of Makkah he fled but was brought back under the Prophet ﷺ's protection, lent the Muslims armor for Hunayn while still a non-Muslim, and accepted Islam when the Prophet ﷺ gave him a valley full of spoils. He became a devoted worshipper and died in 41 AH.
