Khadijah bint Khuwaylid RA was the first wife of the Prophet ﷺ, the first person to believe in his message, and the mother of all his children but Ibrahim. A merchant of noble Qurayshi lineage, twice married before, who ran a large trading business, she employed the young Muhammad ﷺ, was drawn to his honesty, and proposed marriage to him.
When revelation first came at Hira, she comforted and reassured him and took him to her cousin Waraqah ibn Nawfal. For some twenty-five years she supported him with her wealth and loyalty through the hardest years of persecution, including the boycott. She died in Makkah around three years before the Hijrah, and the Prophet ﷺ never stopped honoring her memory, saying Allah had given him no one better.
