عبد الله بن عباس
Abdullah ibn Abbas RA was the Prophet ﷺ's cousin, son of al-Abbas RA and Umm al-Fadl RA, who was still young in the Prophet ﷺ's lifetime but became the great scholar of Qur'anic interpretation among the Companions and one of the most important narrators of the seerah, especially of the Makkan years. Umar RA admitted him to the council of senior Companions at about fifteen or sixteen for his understanding of the Qur'an. In the civil strife he was one of the "Abadilah" who refused to take sides. Some of his views stood apart from other Companions. He died in 68 AH, and the main mosque of Ta'if bears his name.
