Qatada (the Student of Ibn Abbas)

Qatadah was an early exegete and student in the school of Ibn Abbas RA. He explained that Allah brought the slain Quraysh leaders at the well of Badr back to life to hear the Prophet ﷺ address them, for their humiliation and regret, and commented that the verse of repentance in Surah al-Tawbah [9:117] refers to the hardship of Tabuk, when men shared a single date.
