Shayma bint al-Harith Recognized After the Battle of Hunayn

What happened

Outcome: The Prophet ﷺ asked how he could know it was her, and she answered that she still carried the mark of a bite he had given her on her back as a baby while she carried him. He recognized this as something no one else could know, freed her, and gave her many gifts. He then gave her the choice of staying with them and being treated honorably, or being released with gifts to return to her tribe; she chose to return to her tribe. It is not known whether she accepted Islam. A weaker report, transmitted by al-Bayhaqi, adds that Shayma also brought her elderly parents, Halimah al-Sa'diyah and her husband, the Prophet ﷺ's foster parents, before him; he stood for Halimah, laid his own shawl on the ground for her to sit on, and gave them many gifts, though it is likewise not known whether they accepted Islam.
