While working as a shepherd for wages, Muhammad ﷺ and another young man were hired by Khadija RA's older sister to tend her flock of camels outside Makkah. When the two came to collect their wages, Muhammad ﷺ, too shy to ask himself, sent his companion in his place. Khadija RA, who happened to be at her sister's house, asked after him, and her sister praised his shyness, honor, nobility, and chaste conduct. This was the first Khadija RA heard of him, and something entered her heart.
The first spark of Khadija RA's interest in Muhammad ﷺ, planted through his reputation for honesty and modesty rather than any direct meeting.
