Zaynab bint Khuzayma al-Hilaliyah, known before Islam as Umm al-Masakin for her care of the poor and orphans, was widowed when her husband Ubaydah ibn al-Harith died of wounds sustained in the mubaraza duel at Badr. The Prophet ﷺ married her, probably around the 3rd year of the Hijrah.
She lived only a few months as the Prophet ﷺ's wife, dying in Rabi' al-Awwal of the 4th year of the Hijrah, one of only two of his wives (with Khadija RA) to die during his lifetime, and the first buried in Baqi' al-Gharqad.
