Passed away in the 8th year of the Hijrah at around 31 years of age, after years of pain from injuries sustained in a fall from her camel during her own emigration from Makkah to Madinah.
Zaynab RA, the eldest daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, born about ten years before the start of the dawah, died in the 8th year of the Hijrah at around 31 years of age. Years earlier, while emigrating from Makkah to Madinah, she had fallen from her camel and suffered internal bleeding from which she never fully recovered, remaining in pain for the following eight years until her death. Her husband, Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi', had remained outside Islam for years after her own emigration; at Fajr during the raid on his caravan she had famously declared, "I have given him protection!", and he was later returned to her under safe conduct before eventually accepting Islam himself.
Zaynab RA was the first of the Prophet ﷺ's four daughters to die in his lifetime after Ruqayyah RA; of the four, only Fatima RA outlived him, dying six months after his own death. The order of death was Ruqayyah RA, then Zaynab RA, then Umm Kulthum RA.
