From the Prophet ﷺ's letter to the people of Oman, addressing whether jizya could be taken from the Majus, who are not People of the Book.
After the Conquest of Makkah, the Prophet ﷺ sent Amr ibn al-As to Oman calling its people to Islam, including instructions that jizya be taken even from the Majus (Zoroastrians) there.
The people of Oman accepted Islam. The letter's instruction to take jizya from the Majus, who are not People of the Book, became a key piece of evidence in the fiqh debate over from whom jizya may be taken.
