Muawiyah ibn Haydah RA, a one-time delegate from Yemen who saw the Prophet ﷺ only this once in his life, asked him what of the awrah is permitted to show and what is not, producing the single explicit hadith on the subject. The Prophet ﷺ told him to cover his awrah from everyone but his spouse. When Muawiyah RA asked what to do if alone, the Prophet ﷺ replied that Allah has more right that one be shy of Him.
