Sirin bint Sham'un

Sirin bint Sham'un was a Coptic Christian woman of Egypt and the sister of Maria al-Qibtiyya RA. After the Prophet ﷺ wrote to Jurayj ibn Mina, the Muqawqis of Egypt, the Muqawqis replied politely and sent gifts: cloth, honey, the mule Duldul, and two slave girls who were sisters, Maria and Sirin. Some later books say the two were daughters of a noble family whose father had dedicated them to the church, as was a custom of theirs, and that the patriarch then gave them to the Prophet ﷺ.

Since a man may not take two sisters at the same time, the Prophet ﷺ kept Maria and gave Sirin to the poet Hassan ibn Thabit RA. Like Maria, she was milk al-yamin, not a wife. She bore Hassan a son, Abd al-Rahman ibn Hassan ibn Thabit.
