معوذ بن الحارث
Muawwidh ibn al-Harith RA, known as Muawwidh ibn Afra' after his pious mother, was a young man of the Ansar martyred at Badr in 2 AH along with his brother Awf. The two brothers were among the young Ansar who first answered the Quraysh challenge to single combat and were turned down. By Ibn Ishaq's account he struck Abu Jahl after Mu'adh ibn Amr ibn al-Jumuh RA had cut off his leg; in al-Bukhari the second boy is named Mu'adh ibn Afra'. Muawwidh was martyred later that day.
