Afra' was a pious woman of the Ansar whose children were all known by her name. Of her three sons, two, Awf and Muawwidh, were martyred at Badr in 2 AH, both having volunteered for the opening single combat, and Muawwidh was one of the two boys who struck down Abu Jahl.
