Mistah ibn Uthathah RA

Mistah ibn Uthathah RA was a poor Muhajir, a veteran of Badr, and a second cousin of Aisha RA, supported by Abu Bakr RA's charity. During the slander against Aisha in 5 AH he was one of only three believers who repeated the rumour, and he received eighty lashes for qadhf. When Abu Bakr swore to stop supporting him, Allah revealed a verse of Surah al-Nur urging forgiveness, and Abu Bakr supported him for the rest of his life.
