Mother of Umar ibn al-Khattab RA and of his sister Fatima bint al-Khattab RA. She was of Banu Makhzum, the daughter of Hashim ibn al-Mughirah, whose brother Hisham was the father of Abu Jahl. That made Abu Jahl her paternal first cousin and Umar's maternal cousin. A minority report makes her Hisham's own daughter, and so Abu Jahl's sister, which would make him Umar's maternal uncle; the genealogists reject that, but it is why the two are sometimes described that way.
