أبو عبيدة بن الجراح
Abu Ubaydah Amir ibn al-Jarrah RA was a Companion of the Quraysh, one of the ten promised Jannah and among the most trusted of the elite Companions. At Badr he is reported to have been forced to kill his own idolater father, who hunted him through the battle, a report linked to the Qur'an's praise of those who put Allah above their closest kin, though its chain is broken and al-Waqidi said his father had died before Islam. He led expeditions for the Prophet ﷺ and commanded a division at the Conquest of Makkah. When the Christians of Najran asked for an honest man to judge between them, the Prophet ﷺ sent Abu Ubaydah.

“You will never find a people who [truly] believe in Allah and the Last Day loyal to those who defy Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their parents, children, siblings, or extended family. For those [believers], Allah has instilled faith in their hearts and strengthened them with a spirit from Him. He will admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. They are the party of Allah. Indeed, Allah's party is bound to succeed.”
Revealed in praise of Abu Ubaydah for prioritizing loyalty to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ over his own father.
