Abdullah ibn Yasir RA was a son of Yasir RA and Sumayyah RA and the brother of Ammar ibn Yasir RA. His whole family were slaves in Makkah and among the earliest converts, and the Quraysh tortured them in front of one another. He watched his father Yasir die under torture and saw Abu Jahal brutally kill his mother Sumayyah, the first martyrs of Islam. The persecutors then threw Abdullah into a ditch before turning on his brother Ammar.
