Zum'a ibn al-Aswad was the youngest and most beloved son of al-Aswad ibn al-Muttalib, killed fighting for the Quraysh at Badr in 2 AH along with his two brothers. Under the Quraysh's ban on mourning the dead of Badr, his father longed to weep for him.
