Uthman ibn Abi Talha was a nobleman of Banu Abd al-Dar killed fighting for the Quraysh at Uhud in 3 AH. His son Shayba, bitter over his death, accepted Islam at the Conquest of Makkah and tried to kill the Prophet ﷺ at Hunayn before faith entered his heart.
