Shayba ibn Uthman RA was a man of Banu Abd al-Dar whose father was killed fighting the Muslims at Uhud. He accepted Islam at the Conquest of Makkah in 8 AH but still burned for revenge, and at Hunayn rode at the Prophet ﷺ from behind in the chaos, only to be stopped by a blinding light. The Prophet ﷺ turned and prayed three times for his guidance, and Shayba said faith entered his heart at that moment. He fought on beside the Prophet ﷺ and lived a pious life.
