This unnamed man is said to have been a relative of Uqba ibn Abi Mu'ayt. By a report not found in Ibn Ishaq or the hadith collections checked, when the Quraysh mobilized for Badr in 2 AH and Uqba feared to leave Makkah, he offered him his fastest camel so that he could escape if the army fled. Uqba was captured at Badr and executed on the road to Madinah.
