Kinana was the husband of Safiyyah bint Huyayy RA at Khaybar, and custodian of the treasure of Banu al-Nadir. Captured when Khaybar fell in 7 AH, he denied knowing where the treasure was hidden, and when it was found he was put to death. When the Prophet ﷺ first saw Safiyyah after the conquest, he noticed a large bruise on her face and asked about it. She explained that a week earlier she had dreamed that the moon rose from Yathrib, climbed high, and fell into her lap. When she told Kinana, he struck her across the face and said, "Do you expect the king of the Arabs will marry you?" He had understood the dream correctly. Safiyyah added that her menses began that very day and that he never came near her again before he died. She later married the Prophet ﷺ.
