Juwayriyyah bint al-Harith RA was a Mother of the Believers, the daughter of al-Harith ibn Abi Dirar, chieftain of the Banu al-Mustaliq. Taken captive when the Muslims defeated her tribe at al-Muraysi' in 5 AH, she arranged to buy her freedom and came to the Prophet ﷺ for help; he offered to pay it and marry her, and her freedom was her mahr. The Ansar then freed every captive of her tribe, and when her father came to ransom her, she chose to stay with the Prophet ﷺ, which moved him and the whole tribe to accept Islam. Aisha RA said she knew of no woman who brought more blessings to her people. Known for her piety, fasting and generosity, she died at about sixty-five in 50 AH.
