Jubayr ibn Mut'im RA was a nobleman of the Banu Nawfal, son of Mut'im ibn Adi who had protected the Prophet ﷺ in Makkah. Captured at Badr, he heard the Prophet ﷺ recite Surah al-Tur from the Masjid where the prisoners were held, and said it was the first time faith entered his heart. Seeking revenge for his uncle Tu'aymah, he promised his slave Wahshi freedom for killing Hamzah RA at Uhud. By Hunayn in 8 AH he was a Muslim and saw the angels descend like a black cloud. He narrated the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ's names, and his son Muhammad became an early authority on the seerah.
