وحشي بن حرب
Fled first to Ta'if and then to Syria for fear of the Prophet ﷺ, until someone told him the Prophet ﷺ never kills anyone who accepts Islam; he then came to Makkah cloaked and hidden and gave his shahada in front of the Prophet ﷺ.
Wahshi RA was a Makkan slave skilled with the javelin, promised his freedom by his master Jubayr ibn Mut'im if he killed Hamzah RA, which he did from ambush at Uhud in 3 AH. Excluded from the amnesty at the Conquest of Makkah, he fled to Ta'if and later came to the Prophet ﷺ and accepted Islam. The Prophet ﷺ wept at his account of Hamzah's death, forgave him, but asked him to keep out of his sight. Seeking atonement, Wahshi threw the same javelin at Musaylimah at al-Yamamah in 12 AH, not knowing whether his or an Ansari's blow killed him. He was punished for drinking wine in Umar RA's caliphate and repented at the end of his life.
