Ja'far ibn Abi Sufyan RA was a young son of Abu Sufyan ibn al-Harith RA. Before the Conquest of Makkah in 8 AH, his father held up the boy's hand as he pleaded for an audience, swearing they would go into the desert and die if refused, and the Prophet ﷺ softened toward his cousin and nephew and let them in. Ja'far later became a famous Companion.
