Al-Yaman RA, whose name was Husayl, was the father of Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman RA, a man of the tribe of Abs who fled his people after a killing and became an ally of a tribe of Madinah. He was among the earliest to accept Islam, and the Prophet ﷺ told him he counted as both Ansar and Muhajir. Captured with Hudhayfah before Badr, he kept his promise to the Quraysh not to fight. At Uhud in 3 AH, though excused for his age, he went out to fight and was killed by Muslims who did not recognize him in the chaos; Hudhayfah forgave them and gave away the blood money.
