Al-Mundhir ibn Muhammad RA was a Companion of the Ansar among the seventy sent to teach Islam in Najd in 4 AH. Away from camp with Amr ibn Umayyah RA when the massacre at Bir Ma'una took place, he refused to turn back, not wanting to live only to tell of his companions' martyrdom. The two went in and were captured; al-Mundhir was killed and granted the martyrdom he sought.
