Adi ibn Hatim RA was chieftain of the tribe of Tayy and son of Hatim al-Ta'i, the legend of Arab generosity. A Christian with ties to Rome, he fled north as the Muslims advanced, but after the Prophet ﷺ freed his captured sister he came to Madinah around 9 AH. Moved by the Prophet ﷺ's humility and his prophecies of safety, the treasures of Kisra and abundant wealth, he accepted Islam, and he lived to see much of it fulfilled, taking part in the conquest of Ctesiphon. One of the longest-lived Companions, he fought with Ali RA at Siffin and died in Kufa in 67 AH.
