A series of battles between the tribe of Kinana (of which Quraysh is a branch) and the tribes of Qays Aylan (Ghatafan and Hawazin). A man from Kinana killed a man from Hawazin; when the Hawazin retaliated, the Kinanite tribes, including Quraysh, fled back into Makkah, relying on the law that whoever enters the Haram is safe. But the Hawazin, in their anger, followed and attacked the Kinana even within the sanctuary, violating the sanctity of the Haram. In response, Quraysh declared all-out war against Hawazin and Qays Aylan.
Outcome: Quraysh initially struggled but eventually prevailed; a peace treaty was reached in which Quraysh agreed to pay blood money, ending the fighting.
Named the Wars of Fijar (evil) because both sides committed wrongdoing: the killing on one side, and the violation of the Haram's sanctity on the other, which was considered the greater evil. The Prophet ﷺ, then a teenager not yet of an age to bear a sword, assisted by collecting the spent arrows and returning them to his uncles.

I remember participating in the Fijar Wars, and I would collect arrows for my uncles and hand them back to them. And I do not regret participating in that war.
