Hearing that Khalid ibn Sufyan al-Hudhali, chieftain of Hudhayl, was gathering an army to surprise-attack Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ sent Abdullah ibn Unays al-Juhani alone to pre-emptively kill him. The Prophet ﷺ described the chieftain's location and terrifying appearance in advance though he had never seen him. Abdullah found him in the Valley of Arana, prayed a form of Salat al-Khawf while approaching so as not to miss Zuhr, posed as a would-be recruit, and killed him.
