A tribe that lived in the area of Bahrain (in the seerah era, this meant the land near the island now called the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, including what is now Dammam and Dhahran). Many of the tribe were Christians and some were pagans.
Notable for: Said to be the first tribe outside the Hejaz to voluntarily accept Islam; sent a delegation to the Prophet ﷺ in the 5th year of the Hijrah (considered perhaps the very first delegation he ﷺ received), and a second delegation in the 9th year (the Year of Delegations). They were reportedly the first group to build a masjid and pray Jumu'ah outside the Hejaz.
