يَحيَى بنُ زَكَرِيَّا
Yahya AS was a prophet and the cousin of Isa AS, since their mothers were sisters. Yahya was a prophet but not a messenger, while Isa was both. Yahya was accepted by his people, while Isa was rejected. Together they were the last prophets before the Prophet ﷺ, with no prophet coming between them and him.
On the night of al-Mi'raj, the Prophet ﷺ met Yahya AS and Isa AS in the second heaven. He was told, "This is Yahya and Isa, say salam to them," and they greeted him, "Welcome, O righteous brother, and O righteous prophet." Both had suffered at the hands of their own people. According to the New Testament, Yahya was beheaded in Jerusalem, and Isa's enemies tried to kill him too. Their presence reminded the Prophet ﷺ that he was not the only prophet whose people sought to harm him.
