Ummi Haram bint Milhan RA

Ummi Haram bint Milhan RA was the aunt of Anas ibn Malik RA. At a time when no Muslim knew anything about building ships, the Prophet ﷺ foretold that there would be a Muslim naval force within the lifetime of the Companions. Ummi Haram said, "Ya Rasulullah, make du'a that I am in that force and I die in it." He said, "You will be amongst them."

Years later, in the reign of Muawiyah RA, the Muslims sent out naval expeditions, and Ummi Haram sailed with one of them. On a distant island where they landed, she fell from her mount, cracked her skull and died, and the Companions buried her there. A masjid was later built beside her grave in Cyprus, and it still bears her name.
